She hummed in response, leaning in to give him another short-lived kiss, one that he had a delayed reaction to, but returned. "If I wasn't going to wake you up, you would have slept all day." ![]() "Love, it's almost noon." Her eyes lit up as he opened his. Nicole chuckled once more, a bit sweeter this time. "Ni… cole…" Cole spoke in segments, his brain being sluggish from being pried so suddenly from his slumber. "'Morning, sleepyhead." She remarked, watching as her partner furrowed his brow and clamped his eyes shut. The gesture stuttered his snore, causing her to chuckle. She leaned in, gently pressing her lips to his slightly parted mouth for a quick, fleeting moment. It was something that Nicole still envied to this day, as much as she adored his soft features. ![]() Cole moreso, with his bright, young cheeks that glowed, and his dark blue eyes that twinkled brighter than the night sky itself as if adulthood never claimed him like it did to her. She smiled, brushing aside a curl of his baby hair and tucking it behind his ear.įive and a half years was longer than she could fathom for a relationship that she was involved in, yet neither of them felt like they've aged a day. In fact, his snoring is what lurched her from her sleep to begin with, albeit calmed down now. It didn't bother her most nights, but when it did, it was hard for her to catch even the slightest wink of sleep. Though, if there could have been one thing she would change, it would be his snoring: something that was loud enough to double as an alarm clock to her. And it was safe to say that the feeling was mutual for the little doughy man she held affections for. Nicole wouldn't change anything about her relationship with her now husband for the world. A commitment that was shown through the rose gold that adorned their hands in a single band, signifying the love that continued to grow between the two as each day came to pass. Assurance that Cole was hers and only hers for the years to come. What marriage brought her was a sense of security. But these past six months, for her, at least, made living with him a far more magical experience. Nicole had lived with Cole for a long time at that point, yes. Either waiting for him to wake up and return her smile, or until her sleepy eyes tug her back to sleep. And she would stay there, adoringly staring at him as he slept. Six months of her eyes fluttering open to see the love of her life there, still in a deep sleep with a small trail of drool to serve as proof. Her "I do"s still felt like they've just left her mouth, despite them being in the distant past.
